Latinos Endorse Sam Liccardo in History-Making Candidacy

Liccardo Will Make History as First Latino Congress Member from Northern California In 120 years

SAN JOSE, CA —

Today, prominent Latino leaders across the country announced their endorsement of Sam Liccardo for Congress. If elected, Liccardo would be the first Latino to represent Northern California in over 120 years, and the first Latino Democrat to represent Northern California in history. This further bolsters Liccardo after polling shows Liccardo with an +11% lead on an uninformed ballot, and after he outraised his opponent nearly 3:1 in Q2.

“I’m deeply honored to have the support of Latino leaders here at home and from across the country,” Liccardo said. “It’s important to have representation in Washington that not only represents the diversity of our nation, but also is ready to take bold action to deliver results for our communities.”

U.S. Representative and CHC BOLD PAC Chairwoman Linda Sánchez released the following statement:

“At a time when a presidential candidate is demonizing immigrants and dividing our nation, we desperately need diverse leaders who can bring people together. Sam would make history as the first Latino Congressmember from Northern California in more than a century. In San Jose, Sam became the first mayor in the U.S. to sue Trump when he rescinded DACA, expanded free broadband to more than 200,000 predominantly Latino residents, and led efforts to launch programs for after-school learning, college scholarships, and summer jobs for tens of thousands of Latino students in his city. We need Sam in Congress so we can work together to lower the cost of housing, utilities, and child care for working families, build more housing, and fight climate change. “

The full group includes Latino Victory Fund, CHC BOLD PAC, 10 current and former Members of Congress, and local elected officials from the Bay Area and across the country.
